Isot is a dark pepper flake from Şanlıurfa, made by sun-drying red peppers by day and wrapping them at night to "sweat". Its heat comes from capsaicin, which in studies raised energy expenditure very slightly and modestly supported fullness; its effect on weight loss is negligible. Large amounts can worsen heartburn.
