## Frequently asked questions

Can babies have fennel tea for colic?

The EMA does not recommend fennel tea for children under 4. Ask a paediatrician about colic.

How do I make fennel tea?

Lightly crush 1.5 g of seed and steep in 250 ml of boiling water for 15 minutes. Drink 3 times a day for no more than 2 weeks.

Why only 2 weeks?

Fennel contains estragole, which raises safety concerns with long-term, high intake. The EMA therefore limits the duration.

Does fennel increase breast milk?

The EMA monograph has no such indication, and fennel is not recommended while breastfeeding.
