## At a glance

Cherry stems are the dried stalks of sweet cherries (Prunus avium) and contain flavonoids and potassium salts. French and Anatolian folk medicine uses them as a diuretic for minor urinary complaints. Claims that they "flush out swelling and slim you" are common, but water loss is not fat loss, and these effects have not been clinically shown.
