## Which one, when?

### Sweet Almond Oil

Small studies suggest it supports the skin barrier and moisturises dry skin; it has not been shown to reliably prevent stretch marks. Also used as a massage oil.

### Argan Oil

As a moisturiser it may support barrier function in dry skin; this rests on limited evidence. Also applied to hair ends; the roasted food-grade type is used in salads.

## Good to know

- People with almond or tree-nut allergy should not use almond oil and should patch-test argan oil first.
- Do not use bitter almond oil; it may contain amygdalin, which forms cyanide.
- Cosmetic oils are not for drinking; food-grade oils are sold separately and labelled as such.
