## Which one, when?

### Pumpkin Seed

In a one-year trial of 1,431 men, 5 g of pumpkin seed twice a day reduced symptom scores more than placebo; confirmatory trials are needed. Also traditionally used for overactive bladder and can be eaten long term.

### Saw Palmetto

A review of 27 studies found little or no benefit on its own for prostate symptoms; the EMA assesses only one specific hexane extract under well-established use. Raised INR has been reported with warfarin.
