## Which one, when?

### Hibiscus

Small studies suggest that drinking it regularly may slightly lower mildly high blood pressure; a Cochrane review found the data insufficient. With blood pressure medicines, pressure may drop too far.

### Hawthorn

Traditionally used, once serious disease is ruled out, for temporary heart complaints such as anxiety-related palpitations and for mild stress; its standardised extract has been studied in heart failure only alongside prescribed drugs on a cardiologist's advice.
